In recent years, the digitalization process that started in the historical/archival sources has also touched the periodicals. The issues and volumes after 1980s and 1990s have already been kept in computers and internet, but the earlier issues have recently put on e-libraries as well.

The Library of Congress has a special website for newspapers, e-journals, current periodicals and E-zines: http://www.loc.gov/rr/news/lists.html

In England, British Library made more than 2 million pages periodicals searchable. These periodicals dates back 17th century, but concentrated more on 19th century. Researchers can not only study British periodicals but also, Arab, African, German, Dutch, Indian and many other nations’ periodicals.

The British Newspapers 1800-1900, (http://newspapers.bl.uk/blcs/ ), managed by Gale Cengage, contains 49 national and local titles with two million pages of searchable digitised content:
