Caricatures for civic education (Germany)

The use of caricatures in civic education in Germany - Developed by University Carl Von Ossietzky - Germany

Caricatures are satirical illustration of human beings or societal conditions. They are a critical medium, which expose problems without offering solutions. Therefore they mobilise affective and cognitive processes in the consciousness of the recipients, so that caricatures serve as an adequate instrument for civic education.

The database provides a pool of 50 caricatures, which are related to different topics; one focus lies on the role of women in the society. Those caricatures could be used by teachers and pedagogues of adult education.p>
