The return of the baltic capitals to Europe - Database of written sources (Germany)

The return of the baltic capitals to Europe: an approach to the baltic region from the perspective of his tourism - Database of written sources - Developed by George Eckert Institute - Germany

This database contains texts and fragments of texts from various centuries. All of these texts can be related to the buildings represented in our other database. They portray them in a twofold perspective: Firstly, they demonstrate the change of intentions concerning function, ownership, architecture etc. of one and the same building in the course of history. This way of ‘explaining’ monuments of architecture may also include interpretations of urbanization as a result of education and vice versa. Secondly, the source material refers to historical circumstances which are likely to attract the attention of travellers visiting cities with a view typical of what nowadays often is called „HisTourism“. The idea is to experience virtually the increase in knowledge experienced by an accomplished traveller during his sightseeing.
