MANES is an electronic data base which gathers school textbooks from Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and Latin America. The objective is to register the production of school books in those countries, from the constitution of the national systems of education at the beginning of the 19th century until the end of the 20th century. All items have been catalogued in libraries, educational institutions, and private collections. Each of the registration forms with the bibliographical information includes the location of the text book.

The aim of MANES for History on Line is to offer the necessary sources for the study of primary school education during the Franco dictatorship in Spain (1939-1975). Once the user has access to the MANES data base, the consultation of the sources can be carried out using the following searching fields:

Nivel: Primaria (Level: primary education)
Entre los años: 1939 y: 1975 (Years:1939 to 1975))
En la base de datos: MANES España (In the data base: MANES Spain)
