The Essay "The French-German history handbook: The result of a long work of co-operation between French and German historians" has been developed by the National Workgroup of the Académie de Strasbourg GIP FCIP Alsace (click here to access the information on the Workgroup).

The essay is focused on the French-German history handbook: the result of a long work of co-operation between French and German historians. 

The essay analyse how to teach History in the French German area: it is relevant to analyse the attempts to set up common History Manuals during the past century, especially between those two countries with many war conflicts.
The outgrowth of those tries: the French-German History Manual published by Nathan. With the publication of the French German history handbook, the initial reactions were unanimous to underline the initiative which exceeded for the first time the national framework in the way of teaching history.

The handbook provides the occasion to practise a new French-German form of cooperation: to write and teach jointly the history. Indeed, Each chapter was designed by a French German binomial. The stake is at the same time pedagogical and educational, political and economic.
